Dr. Liz's Bio

Dr. Liz Cavin has a diverse background in natural health care. She has studied naturopathic, botantical, Ayurvedic medicine, and massage therapy. She graduated from the National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM).

Homeopathy

Dr. Cavin practices a form of homeopathy called Biotherapeutic Drainage. It is a European method of homeopathy that uses several remedies at once to help open routes of elimination in the body. Common routes of elimination are the liver, kidneys, and lungs. UNDA numbers, homeopathic remedies from Europe, are used for this purpose. Opening the routes of elimination promotes detoxification and healthy function of various organ systems. Dr. Cavin has used this method to address acute conditions like colds, digestive discomfort, and anxiety. She also employs this technique to address chronic illnesses.

Massage

Prior to becoming a naturopathic physician, Dr. Cavin practiced as a licensed massage therapist for ten years. She studied massage at the Scherer Institute of Natural Healing in Santa Fe, New Mexico and continues to use her massage skills to assist patients in their healing process. Deep tissue massage is a technique Dr. Cavin uses to address tight, constricted muscles and musculoskeletal conditions such as TMJ, Plantar Fascitis, and Tendonitis. She especially enjoys using Cranial Sacral Therapy to help with relaxation and proper function of the nervous system.

Botanical Medicine

Botanical medicine is one of Dr. Cavin’s passions. She loves to hike in the woods and identify medicinal plants. While living in New Mexico in the 1990s Dr. Cavin worked at an herb store and studied botanical medicine with Dr. Tiearona LowDog, MD. She is especially interested in using botanical medicine to assist cancer patients. Dr. Cavin also works with Flower Essences to address mental, emotional, and physical issues.

Ayurvedic Medicine

Dr. Cavin studied Ayurvedic medicine, the traditional medicine of India, and completed a 300-hour course at the Ayurvedic Institute in 1991. She enjoys helping patients identify their Ayurvedic constitution and learn how to adjust their lifestyles and diets to best support healthy living.

Healthy Lifestyle

In the late 1980s Dr. Cavin worked on organic farms in northern California along the Klamath River. Her passion for eating fresh food and supporting local organic farms continues to this day. She is adept in helping patients discover ways to feed themselves and their families with food that is more nutritious and more sustainable for the planet. Dr. Cavin enjoys helping people obtain a healthy acid/alkaline balance in their bodies.

Dr. Liz sees cash paying patients and will accept insurance soon.
